PB de Roma holds webinar including Pau Vilanova, institutional vice-president of FC Barcelona and responsible for Barça Legends, and Antoni Guil, president of the World Confederation of Supporters' Clubs
Last May 27 was the 11th anniversary of the Champions League in the Stadio Olimpico, Rome, where FC Barcelona beat Manchester United 2-0 to win the continental title for the third time and complete their first treble of all three major trophies in a single season.
To commemorate the occasion, the PB de Roma arranged a webinar that was attended by Pau Vilanova, institutional vice-president of FC Barcelona and responsible for Barça Legends, and Antoni Guil, president of the World Confederation of Supporters' Clubs. It also featured Anthony Romon, head of the European region of the World Federation, Luca Bellizzi, Generalitat de Catalunya delegate in Italy, and Isabel Turull, President of the Catalan Association in Rome, as well as representatives of most of the Italian speaking supporters clubs.
The virtual meeting was run by Massimiliano Morgante, president of the PB de Roma, and presented a wonderful opportunity to share experiences and anecdotes from that final in 2009, both of the penyes in the country and the fans that travelled from afar. They chatters also spoke about the emotional weight that the blaugrana colours hold for so many people in Italy. Barça Legends member Demetrio Albertini also spoke about what it meant for him to have played for Barça, albeit only for a few months.
The webinar could be followed by other members of the worldwide movement via YouTube and Facebook Live. It ended with a very special moment, a thank you message from none other than Andrés Iniesta, one of the heroes of that Champions League campaign.
