The Penya Barcelonista de São Paulo organised an e-Sports tournament for its supporters’ clubs
The Penya Barcelonista de São Paulo organised the first Barça PES19 e-Sports Tournament, better known as the Penyes Futbol Games, last Sunday. The Brazilian tournament had 24 participants, who competed in a group phase and knockout stages, following the guidelines of the World Federation and the Supporters’ Clubs World Confederation.
The president of the supporters’ club, Miquel Pardina, says that the activity was "a success" and a "great celebration and experience" for all players involved. All those in attendance received a gift bag with Barça products provided by the Confederation, and the top four were awarded medals and prizes.
Barça supporters in Brazil
The Penya Barcelonista de São Paulo is the only official supporters’ club in the South American country. It was founded in August 2004 and was officially approved by the Confederation in 2005. It all started with a small group of people who were members of the Catalonia Centre de Cultura Català in São Paulo and who had a great passion for FC Barcelona. Since then, it has brought together almost 200 members, who meet periodically at the headquarters located in Vila Madalena.
The club describes itself as "an open entity, with the aim of being a meeting point for all Barça fans, whether they live in Brazil or are staying temporarily." The aim of the association is "to build bridges between the Brazilian fans and the Club, organise social, cultural and sports events and, in short, be the voice of all Barça fans here."
The group organises many activities throughout the year, such as book presentations and food/Barça product raffles during matches.
