Movement fills the food bank reserves thanks to the implication of more than 18,000 visitors to the Camp Nou
The FC Barcelona Supporters Clubs World Confederation has achieved a fantastic response to its charity project to fill the food bank reserves.
In collaboration with the Barça Foundation, the Camp Nou was used as a collection point on occasion of Members’ Solidarity Day for the game against Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, to which the federations and clubs invited more than 18,000 people from social action groups, entities, schools, associations and institutions from all over Catalonia to do their little bith for the charity initiative.
This mass mobilisation and posterior collection for the food bank was made possible thanks to the support of the federations and their member clubs in yet another display of the strength of the movement, which year after year does so much to help the less fortunate.
5,000 euro donation
The president of the Supporters Clubs World Confederation, Antoni Guil, handed the president of the food bank, Roser Brutau, a cheque for 5,000 euros at an event also attended by FC Barcelona directors Pau Vilanova and Emili Rousaud, representatives of the Barça Foundation and the vice-president of the Confederation, Salvador Torres, as well as the presidents of different penya federations.
This was the third year running of this programme designed to raise awareness among young people of the reality around them and of the plight of less fortunate families and to teach them ways to help turn the situation around.
Last season and also on occasion of the Members’ Solidarity Day, the Confederation was able to collect 6,400 kg of non-perishable food that was donated to the food bank.
